CHALLENGE
Base metal position adjustments were previously handled through slow, error-prone phone-based processes, creating bottlenecks for clients and brokers. The Metals team needed a more efficient, scalable, and transparent method for trading base metals with direct broker-client interaction and proper risk management controls.
SOLUTION
I developed a comprehensive digital solution that transformed the metals trading experience:
Built a secure client portal enabling 100+ high-revenue clients to adjust base metal positions electronically
Designed and implemented a price matrix for lending/borrowing base metals, providing clear market visibility
Created a custom RFQ (Request for Quote) tool facilitating direct broker-client trading
Developed a robust admin interface for market management and margin control
Integrated the platform with the Neon Design System for consistent UI/UX across the product suite
The solution prioritised usability and efficiency while maintaining the necessary security controls required in financial trading environments.
OUTCOME
Eliminated phone-based position adjustment processes, significantly reducing operational inefficiencies
Expanded trading capabilities with direct electronic access to CME metals markets
Enabled trading of outright and spread liquidity across six base metals in any size
